Durable Pet Toys
If you have a pet, you know what it's like when you buy a brand new toy only to watch in horror as it is destroyed in a matter of minutes. This isn't your pet being mean but acting on their natural instincts to chew, scratch, or nest. Dogs have very strong jaws and some of them love to rip things apart. Tennis balls are a favorite toy for dogs and if you've ever seen your dog with a mouth full of green fuzz carrying around a little shredded ball, you know what I mean. Cats aren't as rough on their toys but can still shred cloth toys pretty quickly. The answer is to know what your pets like and get them a durable version.
Durable pet toys have come a long way as science produces better materials. Often, the military or scientists will develop a particular compound or synthetic fabric and it will eventually find its way into the consumer market. Many pet toys today are made out of very strong plastics, rubbers, and fabrics and can be virtually indestructible. If you have ever bought something similar to the Kong brand for dogs, you know how strong that rubber is. It would take a fire or nuclear blast to harm some of that stuff so it will definitely last for ages. The only reason to buy a new one is if it ends up lost or stolen by other dogs.
Rope toys have long been a standard when it comes to durable pet toys. Rope is very tough, easy to clean, and actually flosses your pets teeth when they play with it. Many dogs love ropes with knots in them and enjoy carrying them around or playing tug-o-war with people and other dogs. Cats love smaller pieces of rope because they can throw them, fight with them, and stalk them. It's always fun to pull a little piece of rope around and have your cat go crazy and attack it.
When buying durable pet toys, make sure they are suited to the size of your pet. It can be amusing to buy a 5 pound dog bone for your 8 pound dog but they will usually lose interest in it or guard it obsessively. Most durable pet toys come in a variety of sizes so you can choose which one would be best.
